Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Daryl Katz is one of Canada’s most successful entrepreneurs and business leaders. A lawyer by training, Daryl built Canada’s second largest integrated pharmacy business from scratch. He also built one of Canada’s largest privately-owned real estate development & ownership companies, acquired the Edmonton Oilers, & forged a visionary agreement with the City of Edmonton for the development & operation of the award-winning Rogers Place sports & entertainment venue–which would become the catalyst for realizing Daryl’s vision for ICE District, one of the world’s most successful sports & entertainment-based real estate developments. Most of Daryl’s current business enterprises are part of OEG Inc, a leader in sports & entertainment, retail cannabis, hospitality and real estate. In addition to his work as a visionary builder & business leader, Daryl has made significant philanthropic contributions to education, at-risk youth and health care.
