Concert FAQ:
Q: What camera did you use?
A: Canon Vixia HF10, AVCHD flash-memory camcorder. Discontinued. Current models are $600-$1200. I recommend the Canon Vixia HF20 if you cannot find a new HF10. The HF20 has great new features, but users report issues with dark conditions.
Q: What camera settings and encoding did you use?
A: I had the camera set to reduce the volume input to a set level automatically (in-camera compression), set the focus to manual, and the exposure to manual. The camera recorded in 1080p30 17Mbps video and AC-3 (2-channel only) stereo audio (hard to tell stereo at a concert, though). I encoded the video with Final Cut Express to a QuickTime .mov container, with h.264 encoded 1280x720 7Mbps video, AAC encoded 44.1/256/stereo audio.
Q: Where were you sitting?
A: Rascal Flatts: About 30m from the stage, on the right. Miley Cyrus: About 60m (200ft) from the stage.
Q: Can you upload "The Long Song" trailer?
A: No can do. I didn't record it because I was 1) taking a break, and 2) thought it should be online pretty soon anyway.
Q: Did you record Metro Station?
A: No.
Q: Did you record Darius Rucker?
A: No.
Q: Was the concert good?
A: Yes, the concerts are a blast and I would go again in a heartbeat. BUT!! I wouldn't record it again because the 2nd time around, I'd just want to stand up, listen, dance and sing along and really enjoy it. Holding a camera steady for 1.5hrs is great for you all, but takes away some enjoyment while you're there.

A: At both Rascal Flatts and Miley Cyrus, the typical "Camera Policy" which is posted by all the doors was blocked out. Neither concert had a ban on video cameras.
