Welcome, my name is Desi, but my family calls me Mimi. I am an American from Colorado married to Surab, an Indian Manganiyar musician in Jaisalmer India. We share a love for music and family. Manganiyars are a caste of muslim musicians who traditionally have performed for the kings of Rajasthan in India . They sing songs ranging from ballads about the kings to Sufi songs written by various mystics. Their livelihood is completely dependent on patronage and support.
