About

Hello all! I'm a Mechanical Insulator in Alaska. These videos are to showcase the many different systems we work on and the challenges we face on a day to day basis! I encourage all apprentices to ask questions and fellow Journeyman to also chime in.
Mechanical Insulators are tasked with the installation and maintenance of energy saving and weather proofing insulating materials on a vast array of mechanical systems within the commercial and industrial scope of construction.
We exist in private sector companies as well as Unions.
Insulators go through a typical 4 year or 8000 hour apprenticeship programs and earn upwards $60 an hour.
Most of the work we do is in extremely uncomfortable conditions due to the varying locations of HVAC and Plumbing systems. We work with a lot of fiberglass materials and toxic adhesives that most people absolutely hate.
All these variables and conditions present the challenges that make this work so rewarding.
Join us if you appreciate hard work!
