His lifelong enthusiasm and involvement with alternative medicine was greatly augmented by his liaison with the orthodox medical community (and its shortcomings) during his fatherās long and ultimately fatal battle with Alzheimerās Disease. Additionally, he observed firsthand the devastation caused to his motherās retirement plans by his fatherās expensive care.
Matt vowed at that time to continue the struggle and to give suffering families state-of-the-art financial, health, home-modification, and lifestyle information and research leads to help them fight the war against this increasingly menacing disorder -- and to help shield families from the fallout (monetary or otherwise).
