Fantasy Counter Programming is a channel dedicated to creating fiction that does not shy away from the political aspects of the genre. There are no chosen ones, no benevolent kings, no prophecies that take control of the fate of the world out of the hands of the people who inhabit it. Works of fantasy that features these aspects are great - foundational to the genre. No disrespect is meant to the likes of Tolkien, Frank Herbert, Robert Jordan, and the myriad of talented others. Instead, FCP simply seeks to work parallel to these tropes, and present an alternate style of fiction that focuses on ideals such as democracy, self-determination, and class-consciousness.
Complete fantasy short stories, each one presented in an audiobook format, will be uploaded monthly. This year's season features stories set in a fantasy world reminiscent of ancient Greece and its mythology.
