A no nonsense 'how to' channel for the practical man. I came from a family who valued formal and university education, I did not. I wanted to leave school and be a farmer like my Grandpa. My Father insisted that if I left school early I was to be an engineer. I saw this as the less of two evils and managed to get a very good broadbased apprenticeship at an old fashioned engineering firm. I worked in a backstreet garage for a couple of years mending and welding cars. Always interested in the trades, my inspiration came from a conversation with Grandpa when I decided that I wanted to single handedly build my own house, I worked for and with joiners, brickies, plumbers and any other trades I could, soaking up knowledge. For twenty years I ran a manufacturing joinery business making staircases etc. Now I have a little farm, a bit of forrest a small machine shop, a small joiners shop and I still mend a few trucks. My channel is about giving a bit back, passing my knowledge on.
