Lucy Ward is an award winning singer songwriter. As one of the rising stars of the UK folk scene she has, for the past five years, been enchanting audiences with her melodic and thought provoking songs.
Her growing status was rewarded this year when she was nominated for the prestigious BBC Folk Singer of the Year Award. This nomination came only two years after Lucy won the BBC Horizon Award (2012) that celebrates the best newcomer on the UK folk scene. In the same year the track "Maids When You're Young" from her debut album "Adelphi Has To Fly" was also nominated for best traditional track.
Her second album "Single Flame" was released in August 2013 to general acclaim, receiving four stars in many publications including The Guardian. It charted on release and went on to be rated as number 2 in Mojo Magazine's Folk Albums of the Year. The opening track from the album "I Cannot Say I Will Not Speak" was voted as Best Original Track by the readers of Spiral Earth.
