Wishful Thinking (or Wishful) are an Australian four piece pop-punk band which formed in Tasmania in 1998, disbanded in 2006 and then resurrected in 2019.

During this time the band has been a part of the local and national punk scenes, spending time based in Launceston, Townsville, Melbourne and now currently living in various towns all across the country.

The line-up includes brothers Carl and Lachie Jackson on vox and guitars, Alistair Elkins on bass and Leigh Thompson on drums.

In the Naughties Wishful Thinking were one of Australia's "buzz" punk/pop acts and were signed to Boomtown Records ( now UNFD ) along with band such as The Amity Affliction, The Getaway Plan and Angelas Dish. During their career Wishful Thinking have played with many Australian and international acts such as Millencolin, MXPX, Anberlin, Area 7, Antiskeptic, The Getaway Plan, Relient K and Seraphs coal.
