Marcel Witte (Uithoorn, The Netherlands, 1974, self taught artist) lives and works in Mijdrecht, The Netherlands.
Since 2003 he successfully builds a career as a professional artist.
In his artwork, Marcel transfers human eccentricities and characteristics to the world of animals.
His paintings are more or less visual myths within the literary tradition of the fables.
By transforming human features to animals, the paintings confront the viewer, but at the same time they create enough distance to put your own human thoughts and deeds into perspective. Maybe they even make you smile?
The background of the paintings seems to be swept. A single color deepens the image, intensifies the contrast and creates an emptiness that is at the same time attractive and repelling.
Marcel Witte often exhibits in The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, France and Denmark.
His paintings are found in private collections in The Netherlands and abroad.
