Sinemilli is the name of an Alevi Pir (grandfather/elder/spiritual guide) Tribe which comes from a Pir lineage as well as the name of a band in the tribe. Kurdish Kurmanji dialect is the language of Sinemillis. Sinemilli Tribe is centered in Kantarma Village. Their Spiritual Master mentor(Mursid) Tribe is Agucan . Sinemilli followers/candidates are mostly found in Elbistan, Malatya-Adiyaman region and some are living in Erzincan and Gumushane-Şiran as well. There are 3 rumors found in several resources about the roots of the name Sinemilli. 1)In the stud book of Agucan, Mineyik, Kara Pirbad there is a grandson of Ebu’l Vefa-i Kurdi named Sinemil 2)There is a branch of Milli Band called Millili Sinan. 3)The combination of the Kurdish word “Sin” meaning “grave” and “Mil” meaning “walking,coming” which combined means “those who come/came from grave”The shrine of Pir Sultan Sinemil who named the tribe and the band is in Elazığ.
