Michevious Kiss: Love In Tokyo Fuji TV soap opera lore.

(BTW the fifth rendition of the story Ita Kiss written by Tada Kauro)

āš ļø Spoilersāš ļø

Irie-kun is heavily autism coded, is not that neurodivergent codedā€” Iā€™m going to use that term because it is imposible to diagnose fictional characters.

It is heavily implied that Irie Naoki is neurodivergent coded due to the fact he has never emoted intensely, consistently keeps a blank and unemotional face and stance and the point he has eidetic memory or hyperthymesia. This explains his ability to collect so much information to the point where he is a super genius; he portrays this clearly when he reads Kokotoā€™s love letter to him and then repeats it word for word at the dinner table in front of everyone.

He does not express the ability to cry, and frequently gets very rude and irrational when out under emotional stress. This isnā€™t generically neurotypical behavior.

Now Kotoko is also not a typical person, devoting herself to someone she had seen once then deciding he was the love of her life usually is at the direct cause of delusion or any other intensive emotions you might feel or get around someone and these feelings can be synonymous with BPD, which is why I believe her character to be BPD coded.

It is very clear she is incredibly jealous, will follow Naoki around during dates and whenever she is suspicious of other women. She often feels like Naoki hates her and when he is cold she gets very discouraged and upset and this takes a toll on her self worth and confidence as a human being. When away from him or the thought of loving him she will become heavily depressed to the point where she will not eat, sleep or do much anything, we see this when she passes out and the nurse mentions it could be due to ā€˜emotional shockā€™. She often dissociates wether by day dreaming and imagining life scenarios, or just because she is so obsessed with having her life be with Naoki that when things get tough she spaces out and does not seem affected by her surroundings at all. When Naoki almost decides to marry Sahoko, Kinchan attempts to speak with her at the place her and Naoki had their first date; she was inaccessible mentally.

She got top of her class for Naoki, went to college for Naoki, changed her career to being a nurse for Naoki. She essentially loves for Naoki and Naoki alone, which is heavy devotion but it makes you ask what sense of self worth or what sense of identity do you have if this is what youā€™re doing?

Granted Japan has a much different idea than the Americas as to how personalities are portrayed in media and this change is starkly obvious but I will say my personal opinion is that they both are heavily neurodivergent coded to give their characters that extra charm:

That is allā€¦

HEY HEY HI HI!!! I got into this a major while ago- pretty much around the first OMORI videos I made, and I was asked to voice Basil in another OMORI project!! The other actors are incredible and the art and editing is insanely good.

Im a month late šŸ’€ but I just didnā€™t get the memo that it was up or anything. So yeah!
