Peter William Ham was born on April 27, 1947 in Swansea, Wales. In 1964, his group The Iveys became professional. Mal Evans turned The Beatles onto The Iveys' in 1968. In late 1969, The Iveys changed their name to Badfinger. Pete composed the hit songs âNo Matter Whatâ, âDay After Dayâ and âBaby Blueâ for Badfinger and co-wrote with Tom Evans the song âWithout Youâ which was a #1 hit song for Harry Nilsson in 1972. On August 1, 1971, Pete performed an acoustic guitar duet with George Harrison on the song "Here Comes The Sun" at the Concerts For Bangladesh in NYC.
In late 1974, Badfinger recorded an unreleased album, entitled âHead First.â Pete took his own life on April 24, 1975. Badfingerâs version of âBaby Blueâ became a worldwide digital song chart hit in 2013, peaking on many countries' charts at #1, as a result of it appearing in the final scene of the final episode of the TV series, Breaking Bad.
