R U Ready 4 BIZness was started by founder Laketa Dumas in 2010. It was a springboard from the Entrepreneurship Project in a Detroit Public School in 2009. It was the first entrepreneurship program in the country pairing general ed. students with special needs in starting a business. The Entrepreneurship Project received a National Leavy Award in 2010 for one of the most innovative entrepreneurship programs in the country. Laketa Dumas also received an award from the Entrepreneurship Consortium in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 for her outstanding entrepreneur program in Detroit Public Schools.
