I have always been a maker and began taking the creation of jewels seriously when I needed settings for stones I had collected, cut and polished.
I began with the minimum tools, a hammer, a saw, some metal, files, pliers and a torch.
After many years of gathering materials, tools, and developing skills and technics, I enjoy translating inspiration into physical forms more than ever.
Makers love their tools but creativity and innovation are the key elements required to make something special.
Inspiration comes to me from an appreciation of all forms of art.
Music has form and patterns such as repetition, echoed sounds, rhythm, call and response, to name a few. It can be hard, soft, dramatic, calming, thought provoking, fun. It can evoke the full gamut of emotions and is infinite in its possible variations. These attributes can be translated into a physical form.
Dance can soar, be frenetic, sensual or freeform. All of which are translatable concepts.
