I've been a passionate gardener all my life and live in Cambridge, England. Over the last ten years I've enjoyed developing a collection of about 300 orchids. I grow mostly species and primary hybrids and I'm particularly interested in those that are nicely scented. My orchids are in a lean to greenhouse built onto the shady side of our house. The growing conditions are 'Intermediate' with a minimum temperature in winter of approximately 14°C (57°F) and a summer max. that rarely exceeds 32°C (90°F). The minimum humidity is normally at least 70% and nearer 90% at night. The greenhouse measures 4.2m x 3.1m (12ft.6 ins. x 10ft.) but probably seems larger in the videos due to the use of a slightly wide angle lens for filming. The climate in Cambridge is USDA zone 9a. Our winters are not particularly cold but because we are as far from the equator as Newfoundland and the Southernmost tip of Chile our winter days are short and the light levels are often very low.
