âBuong katotohananâ is usually translated in English Bibles as âall the truthâ. Ang ganda ng pagkakasalin sa Filipino ng âbuong katotohananâ sapagkat âyung Greek word na âÏáŸ¶Ï pas or Ï៶Ïα pasaâ dito ay pwedeng mangahulugan ng âall, any, every, the wholeâ ayun sa isang concordance.
Parang mas tama nga na gamitin âyung salin na âbuoâ kaysa âlahatâ para tukuyin ang katotohanan. May napanood akong video sa YouTube ni late Sen. Miriam-Defensor Santiago (my president). Habang nagpapasimula sa kanyang pag-cross examine kay Napoles, ang ganda na ipinaliwanag niya kung bakit kailangang ang mga testigo ay sumusumpa âto tell the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truthâ. Sabi ni late Sen. Santiago, mag mga pagkakataon na hinahati natin ang katotohanan at hindi natin ito ibinibigay ng buo. Subalit ang resulta ay, kahit pa sa tingin natin ay totoo naman ito, hindi na talaga ito katotohanan.

Relate ako dahil guilty ako doon. Isa sa mga kasalanan ko ay ang pag-manipulate sa âtruthâ. Hahatiin ko ito at ibibigay lang ang isang bahagi at itatago ang iba na ayaw kong malaman o marinig. Pero hindi na pala ito âkatotohananâ kahit na sa tingin ko ay âtotooâ naman ito.
Kapag tinanong tayo kung ânagsisinungalingâ ba tayo, kadalasan ang bilis nating sumagot ng âhindiâ. Pero sabi nga sa Bible, âwhen we say we do not sin, we deceive ourselvesâ. Ilang beses nating hinati ang katotohanan at ibinibigay lang ang parte na pabor sa atin at itinatago sa sarili natin âyung mga bagay na totoo pero ayaw nating malaman. At dahil parte lang ang ibinigay natin, at hindi buo, nagbago ang kwento. Iba na ang narrative. Hindi na ito ang katotohanan.
âLORD, forgive us when we lie and think we can manipulate the truth to make things favorable for us. Free us from the desire to manipulate and to surrender all things to Your control. May we desire no favor from man but seek only the favor that comes from You. Favor which you have already shown and given on the Cross through Your Son, Jesus. Give us, LORD, the hunger for Your Truth, Your Wordâthe Scripture. May we desire to know You more, so we can love You more and serve You more. Send your Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. In Christâs Name, Amen.â
