Tyler McBratney, known as Tyler Elliott and Crape, is an indie artist blending influences from The Cure and his California hometown. His sound stems from years of experimenting with rap, melodic hip-hop, punk rock, surf rock, and alternative rock.
Born in 2004 in New York and raised in Northern California, Crape started making music young, learning digital production from Bay Area producer Miles Foley (Foley.beats) and signing with longtime manager Patrick âPJâ Rousche. Initially known as Lil Crape, he transitioned from rap to melodic hip-hop before evolving into indie rock.
In 2024, Crape gained millions of views with Formula 1-inspired music. To separate his styles, Tyler Elliott became his name for personal music, while Crape remains his Formula 1 persona.
