I was shocked to learn yesterday of the sudden permanent closure of Myrtle Beach's Funplex amusement park. Some of you might remember that I visited this park back in June. At that time, anyone there would never have guessed that we were in its final season of operation. The park was absolutely packed, and I swear it held the record for the most compact park in existence. The ride lineup was surprisingly solid, with a good mix of flat rides and of course the "hamster wheel" coaster Fun in the Sun. The park was located right at the end of the main tourist strip in downtown Myrtle Beach, not too far away from the empty lot that housed the former Pavilion, so the location was not the issue here. What may have been the issue was the park's microscopic size. Pathways inside got extremely congested and most people probably only rode one or two rides instead of buying the expensive all day pass. Whatever the case, it's always a sad day when an amusement park closes. Funplex only lasted three years; not quite as short-lived as Hard Rock Park but pretty darn close. Is Myrtle Beach cursed for amusement parks? It seems only Family Kingdom has cracked the code and found a way to keep going. Hopefully the rides at Funplex can be dispersed to the company's other properties, or other parks altogether. Did you ever get the chance to visit here? Let me know your thoughts down below.

BIG NEWS!!! I never thought I'd see the day, but at this past weekend's Portland Retro Gaming Expo, a ROM of Garfield: The Lost Levels was revealed to not only be found, but it was publicly playable! This area of the expo was hosted by the Video Game History Foundation. How this ROM was found remains a mystery, although it's been confirmed that it will be released publicly sometime soon. In the meantime, channel PointZoneTelephone has posted a video showing the first three Lost Levels, those being Bonehead the Barbarian, Alien Landscape, and the Catsablanca train. This was one piece of lost media I had written off as being impossible to find, so my mind is blown over this. Fantastic work to everyone involved in tracking down this elusive game (even though we don't know who they are yet)!!

More than seven years after I uploaded it, my Six Flags New Orleans documentary has reached one million views. I never thought that a video of mine would reach this kind of viewership, especially at the time I was making it. This was just a small passion project that I made over Christmas break in 2014, but somebody must have liked it, and it has consistently been getting views ever since. SFNO: KBK was the starting point that led to me making more amusement park documentaries, and now, dedicated coaster/amusement park content. I am so grateful to all one million of you who clicked on this video, and to everyone else who has watched a video of mine. You all make it even more enjoyable to do what I love doing.

To all my local friends, I will finally be returning to Kennywood tomorrow for their passholder day, so if you're planning on being there, keep an eye out for me and feel free to say hi! Even if you won't be there, I'll have a video up soon after showing everything new for 2022, and with all the work that went on over the winter, it's gonna be a long one!

A vaguely familiar Orbot will be the focus of the next episode of Retro Rampage. Grab your Genesis and take up the fight against Warhead- I'm looking at both games in the Vectorman series!

We all knew this day would come. After an 83 year run, Conneaut Lake Park's Blue Streak caught fire today, and it was already in the process of being demolished. Despite the best efforts of a multitude of people in the coaster community, we just couldn't save it.

Kennywood is teasing something big to be announced this Friday. Do any of you have predictions on what it could be? I’m sure I’ll be making a video about whatever it is, but right now I’m thinking a new flat ride to replace the rides removed last year. Either way, I’m hyped!

Hey, everyone! If you enjoyed the Kennywood VHS music video I uploaded recently, you might like to know that I uploaded the full 21 minutes of footage over on my second channel! It's definitely a strange way to view the park in the present day.
I'm currently finishing up a move to a new apartment, which is why I've been uploading kind of slowly. As I'm sure you all know, there has been a lot of amusement park news coming out lately, and even Kennywood alone has had some exciting and not-so-exciting announcements in the past week, so you can be sure I'm gonna be talking about that as soon as I get my computer set back up!

IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING. Everyone’s been asking for this for years, and now Phantom’s Revenge is finally getting repainted! So far purple is in the lead, and if it does win, it will look really sharp on the track! I’ll always love the original teal though. I’m hyped to finally see Phantom getting the repaint it deserves!

Welcome to RampagingRex Productions! Here you'll find roller coaster videos and amusement park speculation, as well as Retro Rampage, my series where I look at nostalgic games and hardware from the past! If you're a fan of classic gaming and roller coasters then I think you'll like it here. For all my coaster friends, my home park is Kennywood in West Mifflin, PA, so there will be an emphasis on videos about it, although I will cover more parks as I visit them.
So either secure your restraint or press start already, cause it's time to get going!
