Matthew Groters is a violinist, violist, and music teacher in the greater Chicagoland area. He began studying the violin at age 11 in the Fairfax County Public School System in Northern Virginia. Later. He studied with Thomas Wermuth at the Western Springs School of talent education, and Joseph Glymph, Brian Groner and Dr. Jaime Gorgojo at Northeastern Illinois University. An experienced orchestral musician, Mr. Groters has held Concertmaster and Principal Second positions in both the Protege Philharmonic and the Classical Symphony Orchestras of Chicago, under the direction of Maestro Joseph Glymph. He has also served as Principal Viola in the Protege Philharmonic. He is also a member of the informal Chicago area duo: Duo Veraniego. As a conductor and soloist, Mr. Groters has performed at international conferences for audiences numbering in the thousands. Currently, he serves as a Music Teacher in the Chicago Public Schools, and a freelance performer and private teacher.
