Stoicism, founded in the early 3rd century BCE by Zeno of Citium, is an ancient Greek philosophy. It teaches us how to control our own emotions and how to overcome destructive emotions. The belief in rationality and logic is central to Stoic philosophy, which claims that virtue, such as wisdom, courage, justice, and temperance, is the best virtue. The Stoics say we should seek to live in harmony with nature and reason, focusing on what can be controlled and accepting what cannot. Prominent Stoic philosophers include Epictetus, Seneca, and Marcus Aurelius.
