Bolasugi is derived from the Buginese words bola and sugi, meaning ‘house’ and ‘rich’ respectively. The Bolasugi concept also refers to the square design found in the traditional woven bamboo structures found in weddings and other ceremonies, known as walasuji in Buginese, or lasugi in Makassarese. Thus, when considered abstractly, Bolasugi can refer to a space of hope. The word ‘sugi’ here does not only refer to material riches, but also a wealth of knowledge, particularly language.  As a language school, Bolasugi is committed to being a space for rich and friendly interaction while intensively learning language.

In addition, we at Bolasugi recognize that one of the key ways to deal with a rapidly changing world, with globalization and cultural interaction being inevitable, is to learn and understand language in a cross-cultural way.  Because of this, Bolasugi is committed to teaching culture alongside language, as the two are inseparable.
